Frequently Asked Questions
Pricing & Deposits
-
We generally charge by the tattoo as opposed to by the hour. Pricing depends on size, placement & complexity. For larger pieces we generally quote by the session or the full day rather than by the piece. Once you have submitted a booking form and we have discussed your tattoo, we can give you a quote.
-
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your appointment. This is usually between $50-$250 depending on the size of the tattoo. The deposit is applied to the final cost of your tattoo, or the final session if it is a large scale tattoo.
-
We ask for at least 48hrs notice to reschedule. Your deposit can be transferred with appropriate notice. Cancellations, no-shows, or reschedules within 48 hours forfeit the deposit, and a new deposit will be required to rebook.
If you have Covid or flu-like symptoms that appear within that 48hr window, we can be more flexible with rescheduling. -
We currently don’t have Eftpos, so cash or bank transfers can be managed on the day. Payment for the session is due in full on the day of the tattoo.
On the Day
-
Eat a proper meal beforehand and stay well hydrated.
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed.
Bring ID. We'll need to see it for everyone being tattooed, regardless of age.
Feel free to bring headphones or something to occupy you
-
This depends entirely on the piece. Smaller designs may take an hour or two; larger work can run a full day or span multiple sessions. We'll give you an estimated time when we confirm your booking.
-
Tattooing involves some discomfort — how much varies with placement and your own pain tolerance. Ribs, feet, and hands tend to be more sensitive; upper arms, thighs, and backs are generally easier. We'll take breaks as needed.
-
Yes you are welcome to bring a friend or family with you, however we are a small studio space and it can get crowded quickly. We want to be able to give you our full focus while tattooing.
-
We ask that children not accompany you to your appointment. The studio isn't a suitable environment for them, and it's important that you can relax and focus during your session.
Bookings & Consultations
-
You can book a tattoo by filling out our booking form (link in the top right corner). Choose the artist whose work speaks to you, or we can help you choose an artist if you’re not sure. We'll respond as soon as we are able — usually within 24hrs — to confirm availability, discuss your idea, and arrange a deposit.
-
For smaller pieces, often no — a clear reference and description in your booking form is enough. For larger, custom, or more complex work, we can arrange a consultation (in person or via email/video if necessary) so we can talk through the design, placement, and sizing properly before your appointment.
-
At this stage, we are a private studio without set hours, meaning we are appointment only. We are a family run studio and need to be flexible with our hours, but that means we can be flexible with your needs too. Just drop us a line if you want to have a chat about availability, we can sometimes offer last-minute apointmnets.
-
We generally have space within a few weeks to a month in advance, but can often be flexible with last-minute appointments. Just reach out and ask and we’ll see what we can do.
The Design Process
-
Absolutely — references help us understand what you're imagining. We ask that you bring them as inspiration rather than exact designs to copy, as we'll be working in our own hands and style. If you have a piece of existing art you'd like to use, let us know and we'll discuss it.
-
Each artist works differently. Jak generally prefers not to email designs and finalise the design together on the day of the tattoo. Pip often prints her designs using lino print techniques and is happy to send through the design before the appointment. Talk to your artist if you have any special requests.
-
Adjustments such as sizing, placement and other minor details are part of the process and welcome. Significant changes to the design brief may require rescheduling, as we'll need time to redraw.
